"After 27 years at Yquem, Sandrine Garbay has produced her first vintage at Guiraud. A delight!"
"Château Guiraud 2022 is magnificent, with the ripe and powerful style of the vintage. Candied orange, white flowers, peach, and a few menthol notes blossom here. This beauty seduces the palate with its full-bodied richness, opulent, complex, and harmonious mouthfeel, as well as a great freshness that gives it a beautiful lightness. This is an exceptional Sauternes, to be enjoyed over the next two decades or so." (Jeb Dunnuck 2025) - Delivery in wooden cases is available for orders of 6 bottles of this wine (depending on the country and shipping method selected).

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2020 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, those who are the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The château is owned by four partners: Robert Peugeot, Xavier Planty (who manages the estate), Stephan von Neipperg, and Olivier Bernard. Certified organic since 2011 and boasting a unique collection of Aquitaine white grape varieties (175 strains of Sauvignon and Sémillon), Guiraud is leading the way in sustainable agriculture in the Sauternes region. The grapes are harvested with precision when perfectly botrytized to produce two types of sweet wine. The grand vin is refined and evolves fairly quickly in the bottle, while the Petit Guiraud is deliberately less rich but perfect as an aperitif, as can be seen in the elegant restaurant-brasserie that the estate has just opened. The dry Bordeaux G is less appealing, clean but too simple for the terroir.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
This Sauternes premier cru classé is now owned by four co-owners: Robert Peugeot, Olivier Bernard (Domaine de Chevalier), Stephan Von Neipperg (Château Canon-la-Gaffelière), and Xavier Planty. Under the skilled management of Xavier Planty, the wine has been a perfect example of a great modern Sauternes for many vintages, roasted, very open from its early years and having gained enormously in finesse and minerality. The viticulture is meticulously cared for, and Guiraud was the first of the 1855 classified growths to obtain organic certification, in 2011. With tremendous determination, the estate manages to respect the natural development of noble rot. As for the winemaking process, it refuses to use any chaptalization, as should be the case for all classified growths—a cause championed by Xavier Planty. The château also produces a large volume of dry white wine to be drunk in its youth on terroirs not classified in Sauternes, under the Bordeaux appellation.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 96/100
About wine:
It exudes real fruity purity and great concentration, with flavors of dried pineapple, peach, and apricot. Very impressive and straightforward, it has medium sweetness and a slight spicy note on the finish. Notes of licorice and pie crust add to this wonderful fruit. This wine is ready to drink now, but will be even better in 5 or 6 years.

Wine rated (2024 guide) 97/100
About wine:
What depth, density, and complexity in the bouquet of Guiraud 2022, with orange zest and root notes complemented by floral and tropical notes (pineapple, fresh mango). On the palate, the wine is creamy and well-supported by a compact structure. Smooth yet mouthwatering, the wine has a linear and serene profile. It needs time to blossom, but benefits from an impressively long finish thanks to noble bitter notes that highlight its energy and freshness. A great wine that will require patience. 2029-2060
Vert de Vin
Wine rated (2024 guide) 95-96/100 (Jonathan Choukroun Chicheportiche)
About wine:
The nose is fresh, refined, complex, and offers depth and a certain concentration of precision. There are notes of kumquat, candied mirabelle plum and, more subtly, orange peel, combined with hints of yellow peach in syrup, delicate touches of honey, candied orange zest, verbena, lemon blossom and subtle hints of fresh hazelnut and gingerbread. The palate is beautifully mineral, fresh, and balanced, offering a fresh structure, suppleness, delicacy, a certain precision, lovely energy, a nice little mellowness, a slightly crystalline definition, and a hint of masterfully controlled passerillage (adding a touch of indulgence). All finesse, purity, and mastery. On the palate, this wine expresses notes of quince, mirabelle plum in syrup and, more subtly, pear jam, combined with hints of peach blossom, verbena, subtle touches of sage, orange peel, small yellow fruits, as well as hints of pastries, honey and sweet spices. A lovely little sweetness on the finish. Almost a discreet tannic side in the structure and aromatics on the finish/persistence.

About wine:
Sandrine Garaby's first vintage blossoms as soon as it is poured into the glass, with notes of honeyed pineapple, custard, saffron, ginger biscuits, crème brûlée, and flowers filling the nose. The palate is even more delicious, with an energetic burst of succulent, sweet tropical fruits bathed in honey, and a saffron complexity that reveals itself on the finish. Drink between 2026 and 2055.
