Château Rieussec

Adjoining Château d'Yquem, Château Rieussec is one of the most important estates in Sauternes and Barsac, with a vineyard covering 93 hectares of sandy-clay gravel soils. The Sémillon grape variety dominates (90%), alongside Sauvignon and Muscadelle. Carried out in the Sauternes tradition, the best care is taken and the grapes are harvested in several successive selections, depending on their state of ripeness and the development of botrytis (noble rot).

Château Rieussec 's cellars are located in Fargues, in the heart of the vineyard. Each vintage is aged in oak barrels from the Tonnellerie des Domaines, half of which are renewed each year. Barrel ageing varies from 16 to 26 months, depending on the vintage, during which time the wines are periodically racked and bottled at the Château.
