A Model of Elegance ( Terre de Vins - October 2021) “Paul and Émilie Mercadier believe in Sauternes, and rightly so. This Château Pechon is a palette of flavors all on its own: from the nose, with notes of lemon verbena and lemon candy, to the smooth, supple, and refined palate, showcasing a range of citrus flavors, perfectly balanced between sweetness and freshness. An elegant wine and an excellent value. ” (Terre de Vins – November 2021) With its refined character, perfect balance, and fresh finish, this Sauternes surprises us with its complexity and delicate profile. A treasure not to be missed!

About the wine:

Terre de Vins Article, November 2021: Paul and Émilie Mercadier believe in Sauternes—and with good reason. This Château Pechon is a palette of flavors all on its own: from the nose, with notes of lemon verbena and lemon candy, to the smooth, supple, and refined palate, featuring a range of citrus flavors and a perfect balance between sweetness and freshness. An elegant wine and an excellent value.

Excerpt from the Terre de Vins web article, October 2021: Nose of lemon verbena and tart lemon. The palate is refined, fluid, and elegant: sweetness is balanced here as well by freshness and lovely acidity. A lovely length; a wine that lingers into a finish marked by the tangy lemon notes that have been a recurring theme throughout. 80% Sémillon, 10% Sauvignon, and 10% Muscadelle, which contributes to the freshness. A wine of great coherence and a model of elegance. €17.

About the estate:

Excerpt from the November 2021 issue of Terre de Vins: Vignobles Mercadier, a Success Story in the Sauternes Region. The Sauternes appellation is undergoing a major transformation, aiming to offer wines that are more accessible and easier to drink without losing any of their wonderful aromatic complexity. This is a path that many winemakers have successfully taken. At a time when some are choosing to diversify their portfolios, Paul and Émilie Mercadier—owners of several châteaux—are committed solely to Sauternes, out of conviction. The challenge was to win over customers and make sales—and that is exactly what the couple has done, with considerable success. What’s their secret?
