Château Haut Coustet - Sauternes 2016

A traditional Sauternes, whose golden-yellow, slightly amber hue hints at the concentration of its bouquet. The bouquet blends aromas of quince, candied fruit, and gingerbread (cloves). Despite its richness and opulence, the wine remains harmonious on the palate, offering flavors of exotic fruits enhanced by toasty notes. Pair this wine with the finest cheeses or enjoy it as a dessert in its own right.

Philippe Mercadier honed his expertise over the course of twenty-five years as the director of Château Suduiraut. That experience now benefits his three Sauternes wines, which he manages with the help of his two sons: Château Haut Coustet, Château Pechon, and Château Tuyttens.

With a pale to medium lemon-gold color, the 2016 Haut Coustet bursts from the glass with bold aromas of green mango, guava, and pineapple paste, along with hints of clover honey, peach blossoms, and jasmine. On the palate, it is incredibly intense and richly fruity, with a pleasantly velvety texture and great freshness, leading to a long, toasty finish.
