About the wine:
With its notes of white pepper, Blanchot starts off full-bodied, but the wine’s structure quickly takes over, leading to a finish brimming with vitality and vigor.
About the estate:
With 29 hectares of vineyards (certified organic in 2018), this estate, founded in 2016, is built upon the vineyards maintained by Romain and Damien Bouchard, the sons of Pascal Bouchard, who sold his wine trading business to Albert Bichot in 2015. In the grounds of a beautiful Chablis estate, an underground cellar was built to house hand-harvested grapes, vinified with indigenous yeasts and with no additives other than a small amount of sulfur after pressing and bottling. With 1.5 hectares of Grand Cru vineyards (Clos, Blanchot, Vaudésir), 8 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards (including Fourchaume, Mont de Milieu, and Vau de Vey), and the remainder planted to Chablis and Petit Chablis, this estate has everything it takes to become a sure bet within the appellation. The generous, ripe wines may disconcert fans of refined Chablis, but they are revitalizing the local wine scene.
