Château de Fleys - 1er Cru Les Fourneaux 2016
Sélectionné
Bettane & Desseauve
“Aromas of very ripe fruit, a slightly rounder palate, and power” (Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide 2019) The nose immediately reveals aromas of white and yellow-fleshed fruits (pear, vine peach, quince, apricot) along with notes of small white meadow flowers. These varietal characteristics are complemented by citrus notes and a mineral dimension (flint, iodine, oyster shell). The palate confirms this: it is a very young, straightforward wine, with a certain tension and a lively, playful spirit. The overall impression is refined, dynamic, and still a bit spirited, with a finish that brings back those citrus and salty notes. Great aging potential!

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)
About the estate:
The first in the line, Julien Philippon, who came from the Morvan region, settled there in 1868 as a lumberjack and gradually built up the family estate. His heir, André, purchased Château de Fleys, a former hunting lodge, in 1988. A beautiful estate that he passed on to his children, Béatrice, Benoît, and Olivier, along with a 25-hectare vineyard located east of Chablis, on the right bank of the Serein.
