Wine rated (2020 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Open and rich, with notes of white fruit (lychee) and root vegetables (celery), the palate is lively and straightforward, with good body. Somewhat atypical for the vintage in terms of its aromatic profile.

About the estate:

This friendly couple of winegrowers has taken a step forward by opting for organic viticulture, which is beginning to be certified with the 2014 vintage. The beautiful maturity of the grapes is well balanced by a lively acidity from the limestone soils, and the barrel vinification is increasingly respectful of the nuances of the terroirs. Grown on the very distinctive Hauterivien subsoil, the Petit Chablis is consistently remarkable for its richness, the Yonne red is one of the very best in the region, and the premier crus from the Poinchy area (Léchet, Beauroy, Fourchaume) are now reliable sources for wine lovers. Like others around it, the estate unfortunately suffered from the climatic conditions of the 2016 vintage. Sadly, 2017 began with a terrible frost... Hence the Grain-de-Survie cuvée, available from négociants, to offer a little wine to regular customers. The generic petits-chablis and chablis wines do not have the same precision as usual, but the premier crus will fare better. Roll on 2018!

Wine rated (2020 guide) 17/20 (Great wine)

Rated estate (2022 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About wine:

Côte de Léchet offers a unique profile, with notes of almonds, spicy and energetic flesh, prolonged by subtle, mouthwatering bitterness. It is a superb, ripe and vibrant Chablis!

About the estate:

Isabelle and Denis Pommier settled in the village of Poinchy in 1990, with 2 hectares of vines (23 today). Some of the premier cru wines undergo partial fermentation in wood, and all vinification is carried out using indigenous yeasts. The entire production is of impeccable quality, especially the entry-level wines. Certified organic since 2014, this estate has produced superb wines that are always well ripened, but freshness is not always present. Regrettably, we are removing the star, hoping for a return to better balance soon.
