Domaine Truchetet - Hautes-Côtes de Nuits rouge 2012

The estate is located in Premeaux-Prissey, the village with two churches: the one in Premeaux and the one in Prissey. Jean-Pierre Truchetet settled here in 1980 with his wife Sylvie and cultivates 5.3 hectares. The sixth generation—the winemaker’s two children, Morgan and Julie—took over the estate (which is in the process of converting to organic farming) in 2019 and established a wine trading business to expand their product line.

In January 2019, Morgan Truchetet and his sister Julie took over the family estate, which consists of just over five hectares, along with a small wine-trading business operating under the name Morgan Truchetet, which purchases grapes directly from the vineyards. From the very beginning, Julie and Morgan—who studied viticulture and winemaking at the Beaune wine school—enjoyed their father’s complete trust, and he gave them full freedom in managing the vineyards and the winemaking process. Every effort is made here to preserve the integrity of the grapes: after passing over a vibrating table, the grapes are destemmed for a pre-fermentation maceration at 11–12° lasting a few days; the temperature of alcoholic fermentation is controlled, with three to four punch-downs and two to three pump-overs per cuvée. All processes are carried out by gravity, from transfer to tanks to transfer to barrels, with new oak accounting for no more than 20% of the total. Private customers, who are welcome at the winery, will be charmed by the cheerful disposition of these two young winemakers and the aromatic purity of their finest Pinot Noirs—a grape variety that accounts for 80% of the estate’s production. The organic farming certification process, which began in March 2020, immediately reveals the estate’s lofty ambitions.
