Upper Nuits Hills
The Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits is a regional appellation in the Hautes-Côtes vineyard in Côte-d'Or, officially established in 1961. The appellation covers 16 communes in the Hautes-Côtes in Côte-d'Or, as well as the hillsides of four communes in the Côte de Nuits. The dividing line between the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits vineyards and the Hautes Côtes de Beaune runs through Magny-Iès-Villiers.

The Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits red wines, which are purple or dark ruby in color and made from Pinot Noir grapes, often have notes of raspberry, cherry, licorice, and sometimes violet. They are characterized by a clean, firm flavor, pleasant tannins when mature, and body, but without excess. Pinot Noir produces a very small amount of rosé wine: Bourgogne rosé (or Bourgogne Clairet) Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits. Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits white wines , made from Chardonnay and, more rarely, Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris, range in color from white gold to pale gold, or even yellow gold for wines aged in barrels. Hawthorn and honeysuckle mingle with apple, lemon, white nettle, and hazelnut. On the palate, they are rich and full-bodied, well-balanced and with a slightly lively character that is easily noticeable. This latter quality also allows them to age well. Wine lovers will appreciate the vintages offered by Domaine Méo-Camuzet, Domaine Faiveley, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Domaine Antonin Guyon.
