Hautes-Côtes de Nuits
The Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits is a regional appellation within the Hautes-Côtes wine region in Côte-d'Or, officially established in 1961. The appellation covers 16 communes in the Hautes-Côtes region of Côte-d'Or, as well as the higher elevations of four communes in the Côte de Nuits. The boundary between the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits vineyard and the Hautes-Côtes de Beaune runs through Magny-Iès-Villiers.

The red wines of the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits, which are purple or dark ruby in color and made from Pinot Noir, often feature notes of raspberry, cherry, licorice, and sometimes violet. They are characterized by a clean, firm flavor, pleasant tannins when mature, and good body, though never excessive. Pinot Noir yields a very small amount of rosé wine: the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits rosé (or Bourgogne Clairet). The white wines of the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits , made from Chardonnay and, more rarely, from Pinot Blanc or Pinot Gris, range in color from white gold to pale gold, or even yellow gold for barrel-aged wines. Honeysuckle and hawthorn mingle with notes of apple, lemon, white nettle, and hazelnut. On the palate, these wines are full-bodied, with a solid, balanced structure and a distinctly lively character that is easily noticeable. This liveliness also allows them to age well. Wine enthusiasts will appreciate the wines produced by Domaine Méo-Camuzet, Domaine Faiveley, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, and Domaine Antonin Guyon.
