"An elegant, full-bodied, and delicious white wine!"

This Pouilly-Fuissé, with its beautiful golden color, offers intense aromas of citrus and exotic fruits on the nose. Tense and complex, the palate is full-bodied and mineral, salty and delicious, with a long, savory finish. • Please note: limited quantities available.

Rated estate (2021 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

The Bret brothers have become a benchmark in the Mâconnais region thanks to their commitment to biodynamic farming. Most of the work in the vineyard is done by hand, except for plowing and treatments, which are carried out using tractors or horses by the entire Bret Team. La Souffrandière is now an 11-hectare family estate. Bret Brothers is the grape purchasing business, producing micro-vintages (including eight organic ones). The wines are always remarkably energetic and need a little time to open up to reveal their full potential.

Wine rating (2025 guide) 94/100 (2022 vintage)

Rated estate (2021 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)

About the estate:

This wine merchant was founded in 2001 by the Bret brothers, who also own the Soufrandière estate. They offer a wide range of quality wines from the Mâconnais and Beaujolais regions. The grapes are purchased on the vine, harvested and vinified by the estate's team using indigenous yeasts, and the vast majority are aged in 11-year-old Burgundy barrels: a wise choice that allows the terroir and vintage to shine through. Sixty percent of the wines in the 2018 vintage are organic, which is clearly indicated on the highly detailed labels. In total, nearly 17 micro-cuvées are marketed each year. The selection below includes only the most balanced wines; four wines did not convince us during our tasting. This heterogeneity observed in recent years has led us to remove the star.
