Domaine de la Garenne - Pouilly-Fuissé 2018
89-91/100
Burghound
A name we love! An intense, complex wine on the nose, developing notes of exotic fruits (pineapple, mango), peach, and sage. On the palate, it has good volume and a lovely mineral length with a fresh finish. This superb white wine will delight your taste buds and pairs perfectly with bouillabaisse or blue fish (swordfish), as well as goat's cheeses such as Crottin de Chavignol.

Rated estate (2025 guide) Selected (An estate or winery that has impressed us with one or more of its wines, but where we are unable to give an overall opinion on the style of the entire range)
About the estate:
The Devillard family has expanded beyond the borders of Burgundy by acquiring the Rolet estate in the Jura region. In Mercurey, the Château de Chamirey remains their largest Burgundy property, with 37 hectares, including 15 hectares of premier cru vineyards. The estate also offers a unique table d'hôte dining experience in the heart of the hamlet. A skilled technical team, with the arrival of a new cellar master, Carole Briffox, advised by oenologist Enrico Peyrone, is constantly striving to improve the work in the vineyards, vinification, and aging, always in pursuit of excellence. After a particularly successful 2017, the estate has managed to capture the full potential of the 2018 vintage, with its intensity but also its finesse. A step up in our hierarchy could be taken very soon.

About the estate:
Based in Mercurey, Amaury Devillard and his sister Aurore took a gamble in 2005 by taking over the entire distribution of the family's various estates: Ch. de Chamirey and Dom. de la Ferté (Côte Chalonnaise), Dom. des Perdrix (Côte de Nuits) and Dom. de la Garenne (Mâconnais).
