Clos des Rocs - Pouilly-Loché Les Mûres 2022
93/100
James Suckling
“Citrus zest, minerality, and freshness are the hallmarks of this Organic Chardonnay Organic Clos des Rocs: a true masterpiece!”
“I love the complex aromas of candied lemon slices, flint, and oyster shells in this sophisticated white wine from the Mâconnais region of Burgundy. The medium-bodied palate offers an elegant balance between restrained creaminess, citrus intensity, and freshness. Long, mineral finish. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink now or cellars well.” (James Suckling 2024)

About the estate:
In 2002, Olivier Giroux purchased the Saint-Philibert estate in Loché, renaming it after his largest vineyard, the Clos des Rocs. He cultivates 9 hectares of vines that are about 60 years old, 6 of which are in Pouilly-Loché. In 2006, he began converting the estate to organic farming and obtained certification in 2014. This young man in his forties plays a key role in promoting the wines of the Pouilly-Loché appellation, for which he is the finest ambassador. Minimalist in the cellar, he relies on moderate oak aging and unhurried bottling. His wines, of great purity, captivate with their crystal-clear, fresh, and subtly oaky character.
