Pouilly-Loché
The Pouilly-Loché appellation d'origine contrôlée is a village appellation in the Mâconnais region of Saône-et-Loire. The Pouilly-Loché appellation may be followed by the name of the climate from which the wine comes, and applies exclusively to the commune of Loché.

The Pouilly-Loché AOC occupies part of the east-facing slope overlooking the Saône valley at between 200 and 250 meters, an ideal altitude in this continental climate, which is ideally suited to the Chardonnay grape thanks to its autumnal sunshine. Due to the many faults that have shaped the Mâconnais since the secondary era, Pouilly-Loché's terroirs are varied and complex, despite the small size of the vineyard (some 32 hectares). To the north of the village, you'll find older, sandstone and schist soils that warm up quickly in the sun, and to the south, on the edge of Vinzelles, ferruginous clay-limestone soils quite similar to those of that village. This variety of soils largely determines the typicity of Pouilly-Loché's various climats, of which Domaine Bret Brothers is an excellent example.

Pouilly-Loché winesare white wines made exclusively from Chardonnay grapes. They are straightforward and lively, with an initial aromatic register of citrus fruit that makes for a match full of character. After 3 to 5 years in the bottle, depending on the vintage, the more complex notes of Pouilly-Loché reveal themselves under a beautiful amber color.

Clos des Rocs - Pouilly-Loché En Chantonne 2022

"Impressively powerful and dynamic, according to James Suckling, this Pouilly-Loché is a gastronomic cuvée!

"The nose has excellent depth of lemon, smoke and flint, then a very impressive dynamism and chalky minerality on the compact, medium to full-bodied palate. The stony intensity of the finish reminds me of Chablis 1er Cru, but it's welded together with more body and warmth. The finish is impressively powerful without a trace of heaviness. Made from organically grown grapes. For drinking or cellaring. (James Suckling 2024)

"Citrus zest, minerality and freshness are the watchwords of this masterfully crafted Organic Chardonnay from Clos des Rocs!

"I love the complex aromas of candied lemon slices, gunflint and oyster shells in this sophisticated white wine from Burgundy's Maconais region. The medium-bodied palate presents an elegant balance of restrained creaminess, lemony intensity and freshness. Long, mineral finish. Made from organic grapes. For drinking or cellaring. (James Suckling 2024)

"A fresh, mineral white with good length".

A charming Pouilly-Loché: a nose with notes of white flowers, citrus and white fruits, offering - after 3 to 5 years' cellaring - more complex notes of pear, apricot, almonds and roasted hazelnuts. Straightforward, silky and elegant, the palate presents complex, precise notes of yellow fruit and roasted almonds, with discreet touches of exotic fruit (ginger, candied pineapple, mango).

Pure and crystalline, this Pouilly-Loché also expresses freshness. From a rather sunny area, the wine is fine and subtle, with a light woodiness. A singular sensation of harmony and delicacy invades the palate, it's tight, the minerality still outshines the wine. Simply superb!

"Vinified in old barrels, La Colonge reveals scents of blood orange, an energetic palate, still very ripe and ripe and with marked bitters ". (Guide RVF 2021). The smallest appellation in the Mâconnais, Pouilly-Loché reveals Chardonnays of great aromatic finesse.

"The Pouilly-Loché Les Mûres has good staying power, and presents a perfect balance between fleshiness, vivacity and very subtle ageing." (Le Guide des Meilleurs Vins de France 2017 - RVF) In organic reconversion since 2013, the "Les Mûres" plot is probably the best terroir in Pouilly-Loché. Soils laden with iron oxides produce a rich, mineral, very long, fruity wine. A little restrained, it will fully reveal itself in 2 to 3 years. A very fine vintage that confirms our work in organic viticulture.
