Clos des Rocs - Pouilly-Loché En Chantonne 2022
94/100
James Suckling
"With impressive power and dynamism, according to James Suckling, this Pouilly-Loché is a gourmet cuvée!"
The nose has excellent depth of lemon, smoke, and flint, followed by impressive vibrancy and chalky minerality on the compact, medium-bodied to full-bodied palate. The stony intensity of the finish reminds me of Chablis Premier Cru, but it is fused with more body and warmth. The finish is impressively powerful without any trace of heaviness. Made from organically grown grapes. Drink now or keep." (James Suckling 2024)

About the estate:
In 2002, Olivier Giroux bought the Saint-Philibert estate in Loché, renaming it after its largest plot, Clos des Rocs. He cultivates 9 hectares of vines that are around 60 years old, including 6 hectares in Pouilly-Loché. In 2006, he began converting the estate to organic farming, obtaining certification in 2014. This young forty-something is helping to raise the profile of Pouilly-Loché wines, of which he is the best ambassador. He takes a minimalist approach in the cellar, relying on moderate wood aging and unhurried bottling. His wines are characterized by their great purity and appeal with their crystalline, fresh, and delicately wooded flavors.
