Joseph Drouhin - Savigny-Lès-Beaune Clos des Godeaux 2020
92/100
Decanter
"A supple and feminine wine!"
"Deep in color, almost black, it displays an impressive concentration of dark plums, with earthy, smoky notes and a hint of leather. The tannins are firm but very finely grained. With its power and concentration, this wine is almost reminiscent of Drouhin's work in Oregon rather than Burgundy. This vineyard is located in the center of the village of Les Godeaux, at the top of the slope above Lavieres, with south-facing vines." (Decanter 2021)

Rated estate (2022 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).
About the estate:
This house is now run by Frédéric Drouhin, assisted by his sister Véronique for the wines and his brother Philippe for the vines. In July 2013, it opened a wine bar in the heart of Beaune. It has found its stride and is establishing itself as a sure bet. The house relies on a biodynamic vineyard that is particularly well endowed with great whites, in Côte-de-Beaune but also in Chablis (wines sold under the Drouhin-Vaudon label), including the famous Clos des Mouches.
