Champagne Durdon Bouval - Extra Brut Réserve
16/20
Gault & Millau
"The light straw-colored wine displays silvery highlights. The nose offers notes of citrus (lemon), spices, bread, and pear tatin. On the palate, harmonious and smooth, it reveals a blend of yellow fruits, dried oranges, stone fruits, and cake spices. It displays beautiful purity, suppleness, and a tangy freshness. A true pleasure to taste.”(The Gault & Millau Wine Guide)

About the estate:
In 2000, Ludovic and Sandie Durdon took over the family estate in the Marne Valley, continuing a tradition spanning three generations. Managing 7.5 hectares, they began the transition to organic farming for 3 hectares of vineyards; certification was obtained in 2013 for the Chardonnay and in 2015 for the Pinots, with biodynamic certification following in 2023. Since 2021, a press and a new winery have enabled the estate to handle the entire winemaking process on-site, a task previously entrusted to the local cooperative.

About the estate:
The family-owned estate has just welcomed its fifth generation of winemakers, with Antoine, the owners’ son, in attendance. With vineyards located in Vincelles and Barzy, in the heart of the Marne Valley, the estate owns just over 6 hectares. The estate practices certified organic farming for its Chardonnay, and is currently in the process of obtaining certification for its two Pinot varieties. The wines are aged partly in barrels and vats, then left to mature in the cellar for many years. This estate offers excellent quality across its entire range and also welcomes you to its guesthouse to discover its wines and vineyards. Of note is the arrival of a single-vineyard cuvée, “Les Sablons.”
