"The signature of the House, a beautiful, full-bodied, distinguished vintage, ideal for celebrations!"

"Freshness, tenderness, and fruity aromas—everything we love is there. Acidity dominates in a classic style in the best sense of the word, pleasant and carried through to the finish by a mouthwatering bitterness. Everything you expect from a BSA: it makes you want to come back for more." (Le Gault & Millau 2024).

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the estate:

Gosset remains a small house in the world of Champagne giants, selling an average of one million bottles each year. At the head of the technical team is a dynamic duo consisting of Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Malagu, who oversee a range that remains true to its fundamentals: freshness, liveliness, and minerality. To maintain this course despite recent climate changes and the higher maturity of the grapes, the house now favors Chardonnay in its blends, with a smaller proportion of Pinot Noir in order to maintain the consistent final taste. With its consistency and assertive style, the range, which offers numerous cuvées, including some from long-aged wines, deserved to be rewarded with an additional star. The house has joined the top of our hierarchy.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

"The oldest house in Champagne" was founded in 1584, before the region's wine became sparkling, by Pierre Gosset, alderman of Aÿ and vineyard owner. At the time, the wines of this town, often red, rivaled those of Beaune at court. After Pierre Gosset, 13 generations followed. Now based in Épernay, the company has been part of the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1993. Gosset champagnes do not undergo malolactic fermentation. In 2016, Odilon de Varine, deputy director and oenologist, succeeded Jean-Pierre Mareigner. He was joined the following year by Gabrielle Malagu, to whom he entrusted joint responsibility for the cellar at the end of 2022.

Gault & Millau Wine Guide

Guide des Vins Gault & Millau

Wine rated (2026 guide) 92/100

About wine:

Composed mainly of Pinot Noir, this cuvée naturally plays on red fruit notes. There are also hints of tea, laurel, and eucalyptus, followed by subtle notes of sweet spices. On the palate, with notes of jujube and stone fruit, it is elegant, firm, deep, and tight. A wine with depth and structure that will need to be decanted to give it volume.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

A beautiful color, the nose is open with a palette marked by Pinot grapes. The fruit is ripe with hints of stone fruit and mirabelle plum. The wine is full-bodied with a savory texture and creamy mousse. The juice is serious with a dosage that smooths the edges without excess.

About the estate:

The oldest Champagne house, founded in 1584, has been owned by the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1994. Now under the leadership of Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Bouby-Malagu in the cellar, it stands out for its consistent production of wines that are intense, powerful, and carried by a beautiful tension that balances them and allows them to age harmoniously.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100

About wine:

A fragrant nose with bright red floral notes. Rosé, musky, and fragrant, it offers great freshness and a very subtle complexity reminiscent of biscuit. The palate is assertive and well-structured, really blossoming as it develops, delivering aromas of bright red fruits, ripe peach, and nectarine. The finish is slightly spicy. An expressive style to drink now.

About wine:

Champagne Grande Réserve Brut NV has a bright straw color and rises from the glass with pure, inviting aromas of white peach, fresh flowers, and wet stone. Medium-bodied, with a fresh palate, fresh and mellow mousse, and a delicate salty finish, it is a wonderful showcase for the freshness of the house style. Drink between 2023 and 2030.

Note and opinion by Mr. GILLES D. Published on 12/31/2022

Particularly refined and elegant presentation. Bright golden color. Fine, abundant bubbles. Rich and full-bodied on the palate, fruity and floral. Delicate mineral tension carried by an assertive vinosity, typical of the Gosset style. Very long, refreshing finish, leaving a mouthwatering buttery and chalky impression. Very good value for money, especially as the price has remained virtually stable over the last three years at 1J1V, which is rare for Champagnes... At 10°C, the elegant "Grande Réserve" was chosen as an aperitif for New Year's Eve because it pairs perfectly with Aquitaine caviar, highlighting its buttery, tangy and slightly salty character. Rating = 4.3.

An excellent classic champagne for aperitifs. A very pleasant roundness, a wine that invites you to take the time to savor it. It comes across as the family friend who is always a confidant, to whom you want to tell interesting stories with your spouse and children over a long aperitif. Also suitable for accompanying certain dishes, but with caution given the 8g of residual sugar.
