"Superb champagne with character, dynamic and crisp"

"A spring meadow with its scents of buttercups, dandelions, and alfalfa, evolving into more honeyed aromas (St. John's wort, elderflower) that blend with the first stone fruits (Napoleon cherries, apricots, rhubarb). This duality between fresh vegetation and crisp fruit is found in a round, indulgent wine with a full, fleshy texture. The bubbles have just the right energy and lead to a refined, smooth and charming finish." (Gault & Millau 2025).

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)

About the estate:

Gosset remains a small house in the world of Champagne giants, selling an average of one million bottles each year. At the head of the technical team is a dynamic duo consisting of Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Malagu, who oversee a range that remains true to its fundamentals: freshness, liveliness, and minerality. To maintain this course despite recent climate changes and the higher maturity of the grapes, the house now favors Chardonnay in its blends, with a smaller proportion of Pinot Noir in order to maintain the consistent final taste. With its consistency and assertive style, the range, which offers numerous cuvées, including some from long-aged wines, deserved to be rewarded with an additional star. The house has joined the top of our hierarchy.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated estate (2025 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer's wines are regularly recognized by the guide)

About the estate:

"The oldest house in Champagne" was founded in 1584, before the region's wine became sparkling, by Pierre Gosset, alderman of Aÿ and vineyard owner. At the time, the wines of this town, often red, rivaled those of Beaune at court. After Pierre Gosset, 13 generations followed. Now based in Épernay, the company has been part of the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1993. Gosset champagnes do not undergo malolactic fermentation. In 2016, Odilon de Varine, deputy director and oenologist, succeeded Jean-Pierre Mareigner. He was joined the following year by Gabrielle Malagu, to whom he entrusted joint responsibility for the cellar at the end of 2022.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 90/100

Rated estate (2025 guide) 2 stars (These very large estates, often blessed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About wine:

The same applies to the blanc de blancs, with its assertive style and lively, slender texture. The dosage is discreet and would benefit from being more integrated.

About the estate:

The oldest Champagne house, founded in 1584, has been owned by the Renaud-Cointreau group since 1994. Now under the leadership of Odilon de Varine and Gabrielle Bouby-Malagu in the cellar, it stands out for its consistent production of wines that are intense, powerful, and carried by a beautiful tension that balances them and allows them to age harmoniously.

Wine rated 93/100

About wine:

A very pure and immaculate nose offering a wealth of white flowers, sweet, fresh and yeasty notes, as well as a fruity heart ranging from lemon to apple and pear. The palate is bold; the acidity is powerful and bursts through rich, ripe flavors of lemon and nectarine, with sweet notes of toasted nuts floating on the finish. Long, bold, and magnificent. Drink now or within three years.

About wine:

NV Champagne Grand Blanc de Blancs Brut has a pale silver to yellow color and reveals notes of mint, white grapefruit, citrus blossoms, pie crust, and fresh pear. Medium-bodied, it offers an elegant and refined mousse, complemented by refreshing acidity and a graceful, mouthwatering finish. It is ready to drink now and should continue to improve for the next 8 to 10 years.

Very good value for money in its category, as good as the prestige vintages from the big names, which are much more expensive.

The biggest disappointment of the year, the nose is discreet and weakly aromatic. The palate is aggressive, a mixture of acidity and bitterness. Never before has a Gosset disappointed me so much.

Extremely and overly sparkling, For a blanc de blancs, too aggressive, not balanced by the pleasant brioche and butter aromas found in blanc de blancs wines. Disappointing value for money!
