“Powerful and full-bodied, this gourmet Champagne is an iconic cuvée”

“Disgorged in March 2023, the new 2014 Extra-Brut Blanc de Blancs Grand Cru Vieille Vigne du Levant unfolds in the glass with aromas of crisp stone fruit, freshly baked bread, white flowers, buttery pastries, and light honey. Full-bodied, opulent, and finely crafted, with a soft fruit core, lively acidity, and a penetrating, electric finish, it is a tremendous success!” (Robert Parker)

Wine rated (2025 guide) 95/100

Rated estate (2026 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, along with their son Arthur, have been cultivating 16 hectares using biodynamic methods for over twenty years. Few wineries, across all regions, can boast such consistency at this high level. The range is remarkably well-crafted and offered at reasonable prices. Among the estate’s legendary vintages, Vieille Vigne du Levant is unquestionably a benchmark of the Côte des Blancs. The style features creamy textures where balance is a central value. In this understated elegance, one often finds the very best the Côte des Blancs has to offer. A highly sought-after destination.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 92/100

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)

About the estate:

Although his family hails from Cramant, Pierre Larmandier has settled in Vertus and produces wine from plots located in the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs, in Cramant (the sumptuous Vieille Vigne du Levant cuvée), Chouilly, Oger, and Avize. The result is a magnificent Les Chemins d'Avize, produced since 2009. Stainless steel and barrels have given way to oak casks, in which vinification takes place without the addition of yeast. The range showcases the results of sustained work in the vineyard (certified biodynamic).

Wine rated (2024 guide) 18,5/20

About the wine:

It’s an almost indescribable wine. It’s rich, smoky, full-bodied, and powerful, yet it’s none of those things. There are fruits, spices, and stones, but you couldn’t distinguish them even if you tried. It is utterly complete. Without beginning, without end. It has a heartbeat, a drumbeat, a rhythm that feels like a pulse. It is a wine that compels you to search for words, then to give up, and simply breathe it in.
