“A delightful Champagne—this cuvée strikes a superb balance between freshness and fruitiness”
“The aroma is so fresh! Peach, grapefruit, and Buddha’s hand citrus. Intensely fragrant and citrusy. Pure, singing like a soprano. Tiny bubbles bring the zest of white pepper to life, leading to a slightly smoky finish. It really seems to float!” (Jancis Robinson). Bottle without a cap

Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2026 guide) 4*Stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)
About the estate:
Pierre and Sophie Larmandier, along with their son Arthur, have been cultivating 16 hectares using biodynamic methods for over twenty years. Few wineries, across all regions, can boast such consistency at this high level. The range is remarkably well-crafted and offered at reasonable prices. Among the estate’s legendary vintages, Vieille Vigne du Levant is unquestionably a benchmark of the Côte des Blancs. The style features creamy textures where balance is a central value. In this understated elegance, one often finds the very best the Côte des Blancs has to offer. A highly sought-after destination.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rated 91/100 (Wonderful wine)
About the wine:
The latest release of Larmandier-Bernier’s Blanc de Blancs Latitude Extra-Brut NV is from the 2021 vintage (60%), aged entirely in oak barrels and blended with a reserve wine dating back to 2004. The plots located on richer soils, mainly facing east and southeast, produce rounder, fuller-bodied wines, and this is also true of the 2021 vintage. Displaying aromas of pear, acacia, and pastry, it is fuller-bodied than the Longitude, with ripe yet lively acidity and a velvety mousse.

Rated estate (2026 guide) 2*Stars (These exceptional estates, often boasting fabulous terroirs, are must-haves that, thanks to the consistency and excellence of their wines, deserve a place in the cellars of discerning wine lovers)
About the estate:
Although his family hails from Cramant, Pierre Larmandier has settled in Vertus and produces wine from plots located in the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs, in Cramant (the sumptuous Vieille Vigne du Levant cuvée), Chouilly, Oger, and Avize. The result is a magnificent Les Chemins d'Avize, produced since 2009. Stainless steel and barrels have given way to oak casks, in which vinification takes place without the addition of yeast. The range showcases the results of sustained work in the vineyard (certified biodynamic).

About the wine:
Such a fresh aroma! Peaches, grapefruit, and lemon. Intensely fragrant, with citrus notes. Pure, as melodious as a soprano. Tiny bubbles dance lively over notes of white pepper in a slightly smoky finish. It truly seems to float.

I've changed my mind; apparently, the first bottle had a problem. This one is quite enjoyable, even if the bubbles seem a bit too fine and lack density. The wine is well-received by all the guests.

A fairly complex champagne with citrus notes, featuring lively yet delicate bubbles, and no harshness on the palate. Still, it won’t leave a lasting impression on me.

I'd give it a 4.5, but that's not an option

A very dry, almost briny Champagne, yet full of finesse, that pairs perfectly with oysters—and even a little caviar for the lucky ones!!!!

I preferred the Latitude over the Longitude: it’s more “aggressive,” has more range, and offers better grip than the Longitude. Both are excellent choices.

A true winemaker's Champagne still a bit young, yet concentrated and refined at the same time
