"One of the best in its class"
"Composed of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (40%) with a touch of Meunier vinified in oak barrels, the house's signature cuvée is aged for three years in the cellar. A luminous golden color enlivened by fine bubbles; an intense, complex, and delicate nose of white flowers and ripe exotic fruits, invigorated by a hint of mint; the prelude to a full-bodied palate, both rich and fresh, where exotic fruits combine with citrus notes. A real delicacy. " (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2020)

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2019 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2026 guide) 5 stars (Exceptional producers, representing the absolute pinnacle of quality in France and worldwide)
About wine:
A pure and slender style, remarkable and elegant liveliness, a clear extension. An impeccable model.
About the estate:
Founded in Reims in 1776, Roederer still belongs to the same family, represented today by Frédéric Rouzaud. In recent years, it has been a pioneer, being the first to gradually convert its vast 242-hectare vineyard to organic and biodynamic farming (126 hectares). Jean-Baptiste Lecaillon, an eminent cellar master and agronomist, never ceases to impress with his intimate knowledge of each parcel of the estate and the choices he makes. Cristal, an exceptional prestige cuvée, comes only from vines growing on chalky soils. The vintage wines and the heart of the non-vintage brut, now called Collection, with a number indicating the base year of the blend, come from soils that are still calcareous but more clayey. Wines intended for longer aging do not undergo malolactic fermentation, which requires the grapes to be picked at a high level of ripeness, often close to 11°C. The current wines are certainly the most remarkable ever produced, including the astonishing red and white Coteaux-Champenois, with the very exclusive Camille cuvées.

About wine:
Composed of equal parts Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (40%) with a touch of Meunier vinified in oak barrels, the house's signature cuvée is aged for three years in the cellar. A luminous golden color enlivened by fine bubbles; an intense, complex and delicate nose of white flowers and ripe exotic fruits, invigorated by a touch of menthol; the prelude to a full-bodied palate, both rich and fresh, where exotic fruits are combined with citrus notes. A true delicacy.
About the estate:
A house founded in Reims in 1776. Louis Roederer became its owner in 1833, developed it, and acquired vineyards. In the 1870s, the house, which delivered 2.5 million bottles, had Russia as its main customer, where Tsar Alexander II asked Louis Roederer to create a prestigious champagne for him: the famous Cristal cuvée was launched (1876). With 240 hectares of vineyards (first growth or grand cru) representing two-thirds of its supplies, the company is still run by the descendants of its founders. The latest, Frédéric Rouzaud, is now at the head of a group that owns Deutz Champagnes and numerous prestigious wines, from the Médoc to Provence, Portugal to California.
Robert Parker - Wine Advocate
Wine rating (2020 guide) 92/100 (Outstanding wine)
Rated Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Robert Parker - The Wine Advocate)
About wine:
Based on the 2015 vintage, supplemented by 25% reserve wines, the latest version of Laurent Roederer's Brut Premier shows well, opening in the glass with aromas of crisp yellow orchard fruits, Anjou pear, white peach, pastry cream, and subtle notes of freshly baked bread. Medium-bodied to full-bodied, consistent and complete, with delicate mousse, ripe but racy acids and exquisite balance, this is a beautiful Brut Premier that will age with style. It will be even better with a few years in the bottle. It is one of the best in its category and comes highly recommended.

Wine rated (2020 guide) 16,5/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2026 guide) 3 stars (These represent the excellence of French vineyards. The best terroirs cultivated by the greatest winemakers. Tasting their wine is always a magical moment.)
About wine:
Once again, it stands out as one of the very best in Champagne. An energetic, intense, and deep wine with an admirable vinous dimension.
About the estate:
This is one of Champagne's finest standard-bearers. This family-owned estate is based on a vineyard comprising 420 plots, mostly Pinot Noir, 70% of which are classified as Grand Cru. Viticulture is a real priority here, particularly through the transition to biodynamic farming. Soil cultivation is becoming widespread. Only such an exceptional vineyard can explain the unique level of harmony and concentration achieved with such large volumes. It is no coincidence that the cellar master, Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon, is an oenologist but also an agronomist, just like Jean-Claude Rouzaud, who built the current empire of Roederer's great international vineyards. In good faith, he entrusted the reins of the group to his son, Frédéric Rouzaud, the current president, at an early stage. Here, malolactic fermentation is only partial and random (between 25% and 50%). The juices are aged on lees in vats and oak casks to give them body.

About wine:
This wine has a fresh body, with extremely fleshy and appealing peaches and lemons from a ripe year. The finesse and purity of this Champagne are breathtaking, as is its gently powerful nature. Great purity here. In great shape! Drink now!

Just an okay wine, not up to the standard you'd expect from this great brand.

Review and opinion by Mr. JEROME R. Published on 03/24/2020
I bought this champagne to celebrate my retirement: it was particularly appreciated because it was different from most of the wines that colleagues brought on such occasions: fruitier, less aggressive, with regular, fairly fine bubbles... In short, a treat for the palate.

A well-made wine that deserves its good reputation, and it's a bargain to have found it at such a good price. This brand has more accomplished products, but I'll leave those to those who are wealthier than me. I'm satisfied with this one.

Champagne is made so that no one can say it's bad. That's its only quality.
