Champagne Louis Roederer
In 1833, Louis Roederer inherited the House of Champagne. A winegrower first and foremost, he decided to expand the family vineyard by meticulously buying up plots of land in the Grands Crus.
His successor, Louis Roederer II, continued this work and further enriched the family estate. From 1870 onwards, Louis Roederer Champagnes were exported, notably to Russia for Tsar Alexander II, for whom he created the famous Cuvée Cristal in 1876.

It wasn't until the 1920s, when Léon Orly Roederer took over the house, that the desire to create a regular, non-vintage cuvée appeared, with the first sketches of the Brut Premier.

Today, Maison Louis Roederer remains a family business, run by Frédéric Rouzaud, a descendant of Louis Roederer. It owns 240 hectares of vines, or 420 parcels, located exclusively in the Premier and Grand Crus of the Marne.
