Sartène
The Sartène AOC covers 180 hectares in the southern part of the island, bordering the Ajaccio appellation and facing the Gulf of Propriano, and produces red, rosé, and white wines. Its terroir, located on the slopes of Ortolo and Rizzanese, consists of granite-based soils. It is airy, porous, and highly valued by the vines for its moisture, in an arid and windy climate that sees little rainfall.
The Corsican grape varieties ofthe Sartène AOC —Sciaccarellu, Niellucciu, Barbarossa, and Vermentinu—produce full-bodied wines with remarkable velvety texture, characterized by a strong personality. These include robust, remarkably full-bodied reds (suitable for 6 to 7 years of aging), full-bodied rosés, and ample, aromatic whites with greenish hues.
