Dominio de Pingus - Ribera del Duero Pingus 2023
98-99/100
Robert Parker
“Discover one of the jewels of the wine world in a new vintage of extraordinary finesse and a finish that leaves a lasting impression...”
“I tasted the 2023 Pingus as a final blend, ready for bottling, earlier this year, when Peter Sisseck decided to shorten the aging period. It is a vintage full of finesse and elegance, perhaps a bit less concentrated, with exceptional texture and length on the palate, as well as very fine tannins that give it a chalky texture. [...] The quality of the tannins is incredible; they are super elegant. It lacks the power of the 2022, but it has finesse; and over the long term, the wine should develop very well in bottle. Could it be like the 1996, and the 2022 like the 1995? It isn’t as fresh as the more Atlantic-influenced vintages, but it has finesse. Only a handful of vineyards are capable of achieving such a result in a year like 2023. [...] 2026–2040” (Robert Parker 2025) - Delivery in a wooden case is available for orders of 3 bottles of this wine (depending on country and selected shipping method)

About the wine:
I tasted the 2023 Pingus as a final blend, ready for bottling, earlier this year, when Peter Sisseck decided to shorten the aging period. It is a vintage full of finesse and elegance, perhaps a bit less concentrated, with exceptional texture and length on the palate, as well as very fine tannins that give it a chalky texture. It exhibits restrained maturity, with about 14% alcohol. The quality of the tannins is incredible; they are super elegant. It lacks the power of the 2022, but it has finesse; and over the long term, the wine should age very well in the bottle. Could it be like the 1996, and the 2022 like the 1995? It isn’t as fresh as the more Atlantic-influenced vintages, but it has finesse. Only a handful of vineyards are capable of achieving such a result in a year like 2023. There is no sign of heat or overripeness. 7,200 bottles produced. It should be bottled in May 2025. 2026–2040
