The 2012 San Roman is made from the oldest vines in their Toro vineyard. They have reduced the amount of new wood in this cuvée. The aromas are very mineral on red clay, iron, a mixture of plum, black and red cherries and again an earthy touch, elegant and complex, developing meaty notes with time. The palate is fleshy, fresher than the 2011, with very fine tannins and very good acidity. This is a superb version of San Roman. It is one of the few Toro wines that really improves with age." A dark color, silky tannins, a velvety wine, and a long, woody finish, but a woodiness that is not overwhelming. It's good!
