Elio Altare - Barolo 2015

Elio Altare - Barolo 2015

93/100

Robert Parker

“Elio Altare shares some of his winemaking wisdom with me: ‘Wine is like a marriage—it should be enjoyed early.’ With that in mind, the 2015 Barolo is designed for short- to medium-term drinking, with plenty of juicy fruit that immediately catches the eye. The wine is open and warm. Dark fruit is followed by warm notes of tilled earth and dried tobacco. The grapes are harvested from different plots across four vineyard hills. In 2015, the team had time to wait for each plot to ripen properly, as the harvest could be spread out over several days. This Barolo will pair well with chicken liver. » (Wine Advocate 2019 - Monica Larner)

About the wine:

Elio Altare shares some of his winemaking wisdom with me: "Wine is like a marriage—it should be enjoyed early." With that in mind, the 2015 Barolo is designed for short- to medium-term drinking, with plenty of lush fruit that immediately stands out. The wine is open and warm. Black fruit is followed by warm notes of plowed earth and dried tobacco. The grapes are harvested from different plots across four vineyard hills. In 2015, the team had time to wait for each plot to ripen properly, as the harvest could be spread out over several days. This Barolo pairs well with chicken liver.
