Boroli
It is in the province of Cuneo that a small Piedmontese town, Barolo, lends its name to Italy’s most prestigious wine appellation, also known as “the wine of kings” or “the king of wines.”
For several centuries, eleven towns spread across these hillsides—each with different exposures and terroirs—have been producing wines of exceptional quality, including, for example: La Morra, Castiglione Falletto, Monforte, and Serralunga d’Alba.
The Barolo appellation covers approximately 1,980 hectares of the region’s signature grape variety: Nebbiolo. These wines are aged for a minimum of two years in oak barrels and one year in the bottle.
Captivated by this exceptional grape variety and historic terroir, the Boroli family, originally from Piedmont, dedicated themselves to viticulture in 1990, transforming their passion into a way of life.
By paying close attention to weather conditions and meticulously tending to the grapes in their vineyards, they produce high-quality wines that are critically acclaimed and offer unforgettable tasting experiences. The excellence and precision of their winemaking have also become a true philosophy: "total, consistent, and uncompromising quality."
Thus, each of their cuvées— Classico, Cerequio, Villero, and Brunella—exudes its own distinct personality and represents the terroirs from which they originate. These Barolos perfectly live up to their nickname as the “kings of wines.”
Buyer’s Tip: "These Barolos possess the acidity and freshness characteristic of the Nebbiolo grape, giving them the ability to enhance themselves through aeration: taste immediately upon opening, and again 24 hours later—the wine’s aromatic profile will offer a different perspective and a surprising, delightful new character."
All made from the same grape variety and using the same highly precise winemaking methods, the quality of these vintages rests on the distinctiveness of Barolo’s terroirs. Here are a few key points to help you better appreciate and understand them:
- Brunelle/Brunella: one of Barolo’s finest plots, with full exposure to the south, east, and west: 50% loamy, 30% sandy, 20% clayey, at an altitude of approximately 300 meters, with soils and climatic conditions that are absolutely ideal for Nebbiolo, located in the municipality of Castiglione Falletto.
- Villero: the plots are located between Sant'Agata and Castiglione Falletto, with a southwestern exposure, at an altitude of approximately 250 meters. : Optimal grape ripening: soils with a unique composition of 60% loamy, 20% clay, 10% sandy, with 10% fossil fragments, shells, and plant matter; distinctive complexity.
- Cerequio: plots located in the municipality of Barolo and "the Langhe Riviera," east and southeast-facing, abundant sunshine, 50% loamy, 25% sandy, 25% clay, approximately 350 meters above sea level, natural fertilization, green manure, grapes of excellent ripeness
