"One of Wine Advocate's favorite Brunellos, discover the spearhead of Casanova di Neri!"
"This is one of my all-time favorite Brunellos, and while personal tastes are fluid and may change from time to time, there's something timeless and solid about this wine. It's like a touchstone. Casanova di Neri 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is enhanced by an interlude of elegant rose or crushed flower. Here it appears more prominently, and with more shape and focused intensity. Make no mistake, Giacomo Neri makes wines for pleasure and sensual impact, and this wine (aided by a warm growing season and 15% alcohol) fulfills all those requirements. But it also shows a floral elegance and morello cherry freshness that defy our expectations of the vintage. 2024-2044" (Wine Advocate 2022)

About the wine:
Tenuta Nuova comes from the Le Cetine vineyard in Casanova di Neri, in the south of Montalcino. Facing due south from east to west, this is a sun-drenched, Mediterranean expression of Brunello. The 2017 needs a little coaxing at first, then cherry bark, cinnamon, licorice root and gardenia emerge from the glass. The initial grainy tannins slowly dissolve into a fine, dusty powder, revealing supple, round cassis. Lemony acidity keeps the wine lively, while notes of dark chocolate and mint linger. 2023 - 2029

About the wine:
The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Cascina Nuova opens with aromas of peppery herbs, musky plum, black raspberry, crushed stone, tobacco and smoke. It's both silky and juicy, supple and sensual, with nuances of violet and lavender balanced by refreshing acidity and candied citrus notes. The 2017 really plays with the palate; it's spicy, long and intense, lightly structured but classically dry. Balsamic herbs, salty licorice - it goes on like a menagerie of spice boxes. An elegant pleasure bomb. 2024-2029

About the wine:
Full-bodied, with muscular tannins supporting a ripe, transparent core of black cherry, plum and blueberry. Balanced and well-made for the vintage. Chewy. Drink now, but it will be better in a few years.
