"One of Wine Advocate's favorite Brunellos, discover Casanova di Neri's flagship wine!"
"This is one of my all-time favorite Brunellos, and although personal tastes are fluid and can change from time to time, there is something timeless and solid about this wine. It is like a touchstone. The 2017 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is embellished with an interlude of elegant rose or crushed flower. It appears more prominently here, and with more form and focused intensity. Make no mistake, Giacomo Neri makes wines for pleasure and sensual impact, and this wine (aided by a hot growing season and 15% alcohol) fulfills all of those conditions. But it also displays a floral elegance and a freshness of Morello cherry that defy our expectations for the vintage. 2024-2044" (Wine Advocate 2022)

About wine:
Tenuta Nuova comes from the Le Cetine vineyard in Casanova di Neri, in the south of Montalcino. With a south-facing exposure from east to west, it is a Mediterranean expression of Brunello, bursting with sunshine. The 2017 needs a little coaxing at first, then cherry bark, cinnamon, licorice root, and gardenia burst from the glass. The initially grainy tannins slowly dissolve into a fine dusty powder, revealing supple, round blackcurrant. Citrus acidity maintains the wine's liveliness, while notes of dark chocolate and mint linger. 2023–2029

About wine:
The Brunello di Montalcino Cascina Nuova 2017 opens with aromas of peppery herbs, musky plum, black raspberry, crushed stone, tobacco, and smoke. It is silky and juicy, supple and sensual, with hints of violet and lavender balanced by refreshing acidity and notes of candied citrus. The 2017 really plays with the palate; it is spicy, long and intense, slightly structured but classically dry. Balsamic herbs, salty licorice—it lingers like a menagerie of spice boxes. An elegant bomb of pleasure. 2024-2029

About wine:
Full-bodied, with muscular tannins supporting a ripe, transparent core of black cherry, plum, and blueberry. Balanced and well-made for the vintage. Chewy. Drink now, but it will be better in a few years.
