"One of The Wine Advocate's favorite Brunellos—discover Casanova di Neri's flagship wine!"
"This is one of my all-time favorite Brunellos, and while personal tastes are fluid and may change from time to time, there is something timeless and solid about this wine. It is like a touchstone. The 2017 Casanova di Neri Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova is graced with an interlude of elegant rose or crushed flower. It appears here more prominently, and with greater structure and focused intensity. Make no mistake, Giacomo Neri crafts wines for pleasure and sensual impact, and this wine (aided by a hot growing season and a 15% alcohol content) fulfills all these criteria. But it also displays a floral elegance and a fresh, sour cherry character that defy our expectations for the vintage. 2024–2044” (Wine Advocate 2022)

About the wine:
Tenuta Nuova comes from the Le Cetine vineyard in Casanova di Neri, south of Montalcino. With a south-facing exposure from east to west, it is a sun-drenched, Mediterranean expression of Brunello. The 2017 needs a little coaxing at first, then cherry bark, cinnamon, licorice root, and gardenia emerge from the glass. The initial grainy tannins slowly dissolve into a fine, dusty powder, revealing supple, round blackcurrant. Lemony acidity maintains the wine’s liveliness, while notes of dark chocolate and mint linger. 2023–2029

About the wine:
The 2017 Brunello di Montalcino Cascina Nuova opens with aromas of peppery herbs, musky plum, black raspberry, crushed stone, tobacco, and smoke. It is both silky and juicy, supple and sensual, with hints of violet and lavender balanced by refreshing acidity and notes of candied citrus. The 2017 truly plays with the palate; it is spicy, long, and intense, lightly structured yet classically dry. Balsamic herbs, salty licorice—it lingers like a menagerie of spice jars. An elegant explosion of pleasure. 2024–2029

About the wine:
Full-bodied, with firm tannins that support a ripe, clear core of black cherry, plum, and blueberry. Well-balanced and well-crafted for the vintage. Chewy. Ready to drink now, but it will be even better in a few years.
