Dark, almost opaque color. Subtle on the nose. You have to give the wine a shake to coax out some aromas of black fruit and prunes. More expressive on the palate, with notes of licorice and prunes again. A lovely hint of bitterness emerges, followed by pronounced tannins. A serious wine—the opposite of frivolous—but here, seriousness is a virtue!
