"Deliciously buttery"

A Chardonnay that derives its Jura character from aging in barrels that previously held Savagnin aged under a veil of yeast. It offers a rich bouquet of dried fruits (especially hazelnut) and fresh butter. It pairs perfectly with river fish or cheeses.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 92/100 (2023 vintage)

Rated estate (2024 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

This historic estate in Passenans was given a new lease on life when Emmanuel Grand and his partner Nathalie—the daughter of Arbois winemakers—took it over in 2015, significantly reducing the vineyard’s size and deciding to convert it to organic farming. The results were quick to follow, and the range—which encompasses all Jura specialties—continues to improve each year. “I like to master things in order to understand them,” asserts the meticulous Emmanuel Grand: his philosophy is perfectly reflected in wines that are crisp, vibrant, rich, and full of character. The future belongs to them.
