Note: Guide Hachette 3*** (Exceptional Wine) + Editor’s Choice
“An almost ink-black color with brilliant highlights. The initial, oaky nose gives way to complex notes of overripe fruit, blackberry, and forest floor. Concentrated, full-bodied, and round, the palate follows the same aromatic profile, and its finely textured tannins, without the slightest harshness, support a finish of rare persistence.” (Le Guide Hachette des vins 2012)

Rated Estate (2017 Guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)
About the estate:
Acquired by the Sichel family nearly 20 years ago, Château Trillol is beautifully situated in the foothills of the Pyrenees, at an altitude of 400 meters, very close to Cucugnan. Its 40 hectares are planted with Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan, grape varieties that thrive on this exceptional terroir. The vineyard’s high elevation helps preserve great aromatic complexity and a lovely freshness.

Review by Mr. CLEMENT D. Published on November 15, 2013
Nose: blackcurrant syrup, black olives, slightly smoky—very appealing and rich. Palate: fresh attack with notes of black fruit, very round with a hint of acidity and very fine tannins; a note of white pepper on the finish—very good and ready to drink!
