Hachette

(2014 Vintage Notes)

A red wine bursting with richness, thanks to its notes of red berries, cherry, and hints of the garrigue (rosemary, juniper, etc.). This blend of Syrah, Grenache, and Carignan offers a juicy texture on the palate, with a lively and persistent attack. Finally, the beautiful finesse provided by the tannins extends the finish with great delicacy.

Hachette Wine Guide

Guide Hachette des vins

Rated wine (2017 guide) 1*Star (2014 vintage) (A very successful wine)

Rated estate (2019 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the estate:

Estelle, Pierre, and their sons Antoine and Martin carry on the family legacy in the tradition of Jean Clavel. Their 30-hectare vineyard (certified organic with a biodynamic approach) spans three terroirs: Pic Saint-Loup, Grés de Montpellier, and La Méjanelle. A benchmark in Languedoc winemaking. The nails depicted on the labels serve as a reminder that the Clavels used to manufacture them before devoting themselves entirely to winemaking.

Review by Mr. PATRICE K. Posted on August 5, 2018

Very astringent; bitter tannins. Very poor value for money. Impossible to enjoy this wine. It’s a shame there’s no advice on letting a wine age. (Is this one even worth aging???) All the wines offered are meant to be drunk “starting today.” That doesn’t mean anything, and it’s not a matter of taste. Some wines can be enjoyed young, others cannot. That is the case with this wine—it’s undrinkable.
