Domaine Magellan
Domaine Magellan, located in Magalas north of Béziers, was founded in 1999 by Bruno Lafon and Sylvie Legros, who found a majority of plots perfectly suited to quality production.
Domaine Magellan has 31.5 hectares planted, of which 29 hectares are AOP. The vines extend over the slopes of two hills where there are two distinct terroirs: the "Pech Redon" terroir (the round hill, composed of Triassic sandstone) and the Villafranchian terroir, with terraces typical of the Piscénois region. In the vineyard, it was necessary to rethink cultivation practices and apply best practices: Sylvie and Bruno introduced 100% manual harvesting at the Magellan estate, a practice that had been forgotten on these superb terroirs, and had the vines certified organic in 2010. A new cellar was also built, spacious, efficient, and functional: pampering and respecting the grapes are also part of the Magellan style, where vinification is classic and meticulous.
"After 15 years, we have found our truth and we are at peace with ourselves. The cultures have come together, merged, and an identity has now been created," say these rigorous and talented winemakers.
