Wine rated 17/20 (Reference wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)

About wine:

Tasted before bottling, this is a red wine with a strong personality, powerful and full of flavor, expressing beautiful peppery notes and a minty finish. It will be available for sale in early 2019.

About the estate:

Christophe Bousquet is very much in tune with nature on his land, which receives little rainfall but which we consider to be the highest quality in La Clape. On the heights of Gruissan, close to Narbonne and one kilometer from the Mediterranean, with its 30 hectares grazed by sheep in winter and certified organic, Pech-Redon has long produced the best wines in the Clape area, the freshest and most complex. The whites, particularly La Centaurée, are a must-try. Among the reds, La Centaurée stands apart with its unique style, a wine for reflection with very fine tannins, less rich than Les Cades or L'Épervier. Christophe is increasingly favoring Mourvèdre, which thrives here because it faces the sea. The 2017 reds are very successful and the 2018, tasted during aging, will be no less so.

About the estate:

A winding road leads to the highest point of the La Clape massif, the Coffre de Pech-Redon, which gives its name to the estate, located in the heart of the natural park. Christophe Bousquet has been cultivating his 30 hectares of vineyards there organically since 1988.

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the estate:

Christophe Bousquet is a dynamic and determined winemaker who fights (sometimes against adversity) to fly the flag for La Clape, a maritime area (it is a former island) with great potential. He has made the agronomic choice of organic viticulture and has gradually refined his winemaking and aging techniques, transforming his wines, which were once robust and high in alcohol, into more nuanced and balanced expressions. These are wines with a very assertive character, rooted in their territory and structured within a range that is now very consistent. This magnificent work, carried out in Homeric conditions, in a site that is on the front line of heatwaves and droughts, richly deserves the star we award it in this edition of the Green Guide.
