"Carignan, which makes up 95% of the blend (with Grenache as a complement), lends depth to this cuvée’s very intense garnet color. On the nose, notes of strawberry, cherry, musk, and rhubarb mingle with mineral and smoky undertones. From the first sip, the palate is supple and round, then beautiful tannins unfold, adding body and character to this wine with its red fruit flavors.” (Le Guide Hachette des Vins 2021) Fitou on rounded pebbles, from the estate’s finest terroirs!

Bettane & Desseauve
Wine rated (2021 guide) 15/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2025 guide) 3 stars (High-quality production, serving as a benchmark in its sector)
About wine:
A crisp, refreshing finish for this well-defined red with ripe fruit.
About the estate:
Jérôme Bertrand’s dedication and hard work on the fine terroirs of Paziols have made the Bertrand-Bergé estate a benchmark for the entire appellation. The entry-level red wines are affordably priced and exceed Fitou’s quality standards. The smooth Jean Sirven cuvée bears the name of the grandfather, who was already dedicated to quality viticulture at the beginning of the last century. Today, this cuvée stands out among the elite of the South’s greatest wines thanks to its character and depth. An essential destination in Languedoc.

About the estate:
Following in the footsteps of his grandfather Jean Sirven, who produced wine in the late 19th century, Jérôme Bertrand left the cooperative in 1993 to make his own wines. He believed early on in the quality of Fitou’s rugged terroirs, nurtured and promoted the region’s wines, and eventually established his estate (40 hectares) among the finest. Since the 2011 harvest, the vineyard has been certified organic.

Wine rated (2021 guide) 16/20 (Very good wine)
Rated estate (2025 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking and, as such, all the estates listed in it, even those without stars, represent, in our opinion, the excellence of French production.)
About wine:
More delicate, Les Mégalites offers hints of cinnamon and a very pleasant burst of fruit on the finish.
About the estate:
Located in Paziols, in the upper part of Fitou, near the Pyrénées-Orientales, this estate has been part of the village for six generations. Jérôme, supported by his sister and his wife Sabine, cultivates some forty hectares, divided into four plots, the main one being La Boulière, a site characterized by a mix of rounded pebbles and crushed limestone. Originally dedicated to red wines, this terroir also shines in dry whites. The 1911 cellar is well worth a visit. For those wishing to extend their stay in this wonderful setting, the estate offers guesthouses as well as 4x4 tours through the vineyards.

The expertise of this renowned estate shines through in the wine. The tannins have softened, giving way to a Fitou with character—powerful and full-bodied. The palate is marked by an abundance of fruit (cherry, blackberry, raspberry, blueberry) and spices. A lovely, lively finish. Pairs well with a roast veal fillet with olives.
