“An expressive and exuberant nose; the fruit is bold and vibrant, with notes of pine, violet, and tar. On the palate, it is smooth and full-bodied, fruity and very fresh. A pure delight.” (The Bettane & Desseauve Wine Guide 2017)

Wine rated (2017 guide) 14,5/20 (Good wine)

Rated estate (2020 guide) 1*Star (A high-quality, recommendable wine that lives up to what one would expect from its appellation(s))

About the wine:

An expressive and exuberant nose, with bold and vibrant fruit, notes of pine, violet, and tar; on the palate, it is smooth and full-bodied, fruity and very fresh. A true delight.

About the estate:

This charming estate comprises 18 hectares of vineyards divided into small plots located in Bize, in the Causses region of the Minervois—the foothills of the Montagne Noire—and at the northeastern edge of the appellation. It is an estate that is truly on the rise. Winemaking focuses on gentler, less aggressive extraction, so the wines gain precision in their fruit expression and a balance of freshness. As a result, they are enjoyable to drink, rich, and pleasing while retaining the estate’s signature tension and vitality. In addition to these Minervois wines, there is a range of particularly well-made IGP de l’Aude wines, with names obviously related to that of the estate.

Rated estate (2021 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Founded in 2002 by four partners—wine enthusiasts originally from Saumur—Le Loup Blanc produces Minervois wines blended from Languedoc grape varieties. From the outset, vineyard management has focused on organic and biodynamic farming. Each cuvée retains its distinct character: here you’ll find wines meant to be enjoyed for their fruitiness, as well as fine wines with aging potential. The estate features two comfortable and tastefully decorated guesthouses.
