"All the elegance of Pic Saint Loup

Simon has a fine, highly floral nose of wild black berries. The palate is dense and tight, with a refreshing finish. Enjoy with eggplant gratin, duck with olives... The archetypal Pic Saint-Loup!

Wine rated (guide 2026) 95/100 (Vintage 2022)

Domaine rated (guide 2026) 3*Stars (High-quality production that can serve as a benchmark in its sector)

About the domain :

This flagship estate in the Pic Saint-Loup appellation has been run by Christophe Peyrus since 1995. A leading figure in the appellation, the winemaker cultivates 22 hectares. Hailed for their intensity, finesse, fleshiness and distinction, the estate's wines are not universally acclaimed, however, as some wine-lovers are bothered by the acidity associated with their choice of low-protection wines. Without endorsing this divisive characteristic, we defend Clos Marie for its unique tannin finesse as well as the delicacy of its tastes. We tasted magnificent 2018s and a grandiose 2019 from the entry-level Olivette. Let's hope that all these virtues will be preserved in the future.

Wine rated (guide 2026) 93/100 (Vintage 2022)

Domaine rated (guide 2026) 2*Stars (These great estates, often endowed with fabulous terroirs, are must-haves which, thanks to their consistency and the excellence of their production, must be included in the cellars of discerning wine lovers).

About the domain :

Since setting up in the Pic Saint-Loup area in 1995, Christophe Peyrus and Françoise Julien have carried out a steady stream of experiments, essential if they are to grasp all the nuances of their terroirs. The work carried out in the vineyard, the high-quality planting material and the higher planting density have all contributed to improving the finesse of the estate's wines. The importance of places and parcels sets the tempo. To understand this, we need only visit the beautiful Simon plot, on stony terraces set in a fault, which has been in complantation since 2002. The whole range, coherent and complementary, places this domaine in the elite of the sector; personal aromatic nuances now flesh out the Simon and Les Glorieuses cuvées, which have the ageing potential and silhouette of the great Rhône wines, without apeating them.
