Bettane & Desseauve
“Bottled in May 2014 after 18 months of aging on fine lees, the Menetou-Salon Les Renardières is a lovely wine with an open, balanced, and elegant bouquet of celery, fennel seed, and white fruits. These aromas are highlighted by a delicate hint of spice derived from the clay-limestone soils. On the palate, this 100% Sauvignon is rich, complex, and elegant, powerfully structured yet still young and crisp, with flavors of star fruit and gooseberry, as well as notes of yeast and hazelnut on the finish.” (Wine Advocate 2014 – Robert Parker)

About the wine:
It offers richness and intensity, with a nicely balanced body.
About the estate:
Philippe Gilbert is a winemaker of great integrity; for the past few vintages, he has been working as naturally as possible. The estate has just opened a wine bar, Le Fluteau, where guests can enjoy wines from the estate as well as those from fellow winemakers.

Wine rated (2015 guide) 15,5/20 (Good wine)
Rated estate (2016 guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)
About the wine:
The Les Renardières vintage offers greater density, length, and complexity, but it will need a little time to develop.
About the estate:
Owner Philippe Gilbert has relied on the guidance of winemaker Jean-Philippe Louis since the estate’s quality revival twelve years ago. It is largely thanks to him that the vineyard was converted to biodynamic farming (Biodyvin certification). The Renardières cuvées are made from the oldest Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc vines. The whites have gained depth and a mineral-driven finish in recent vintages. After a period of pronounced oak influence, the reds have developed finesse without losing their ripeness, and are gradually gaining in precision.
