Domaines Landron - Amphibolite 2014
15/20
RVF
Amphibolite is a lively, crisp wine with a mineral character. Like the estate’s other cuvées, it is not sweetened with sugar, and it beautifully expresses its green-rock terroir. One sip leads to another—this is a wine best enjoyed in its youth.

About the estate:
Jo Landron’s wines have become benchmarks within the small family of terroir-driven Muscadets. The winemaker with the legendary mustache has breathed new life into the Melon Blanc grape. What Muscadet lover isn’t familiar with the invigorating Amphibolite? The other wines, enhanced by the transition to biodynamic farming in 2011, sensitively capture this beautiful identity. Hailing from a plot of undulating orthogneiss and quartz terrain, Le Fief du Breil embodies a luminous expression of umami flavor, shaped by its 36-month aging. A wine with extraordinary saline depth that gains character with age. Jo has officially handed the reins to his daughter Hélène and her partner Nicolas Chaurois. Let’s celebrate the career of this extraordinary winemaker, whose wines are among the most flavorful and moving in the Muscadet region.

Very pleasant, refreshing, lively, and straightforward... perfect for pairing with Marennes-Oléron oysters, for example.
