Domaines Landron - Le Fief du Breil 2013
15/20
RVF
With extended aging on lees, Fief du Breil displays more developed and smoky notes than Jo Landron's other Muscadets. The lively attack gives way to fruit with a racy and wild side. It's no surprise that this is the estate's flagship wine. Recognized by the press year after year, this is a cuvée not to be missed!

About wine:
Le Fief du Breil asserts its character in 2013.
About the estate:
Jo Landron's vintages have become benchmarks in the small family of terroir Muscadets. The wines are marketed in a staggered manner, starting with the light Amphibolite, which is best enjoyed for its fruitiness and is very popular in wine bars, followed by the clay-sand or sandstone wines, depending on the case, with the age of the vines influencing the beautiful arrangement of the terroirs. In the best years, Hermine d'Or combines maturity and freshness, and Fief du Breil offers real complexity.

Significantly fuller-bodied than the Amphibolite, of course. Still very fresh. Already very pleasant, even if it feels like it will need at least two or three years to reach its full potential.

Disappointing, very acidic and not very aromatic wine, probably needs to be aged, high price for this level of quality. Not a great Muscadet in any case.

The polar opposite of what I remember about Muscadet. Very subtle aromas. A hint of minerality and smokiness.
