About the estate:
Philippe Prieur and his nephew, Luc, are carrying on the work of ten generations at this estate in Verdigny. The vineyards are spread across the caillottes and white soils of Verdigny and Chavignol (notably on the legendary Monts Damnés hillside) and on the flint soils of Thauvenay, near the Loire. These meticulous winemakers spare no effort to refine the character of their Sauvignon Blancs and Pinot Noirs (conversion to organic farming since 2019, reduced sulfites in the wines, native yeasts for the reds, and more). This philosophy is reflected in wines that are refined and precise, without the exotic, modern, and boring character found in many white wines from the new generation of Sancerre producers. The “simple” Sancerre is a prime example.
