Touraine Amboise

The Touraine-Amboise AOC is a sub-region of the Touraine AOC. The vineyards span 170 hectares across nine communes on both banks of the Loire River, upstream from Tours and near the town of Amboise. Grown on two types of soil—clay-limestone and clay-siliceous—the region enjoys a temperate oceanic climate influenced by the continent. For white wines, Chenin Blanc produces dry, off-dry, or sweet wines. Red and rosé wines are generally made from Gamay, though there are blends suitable for medium-term aging with a high proportion of Cabernet and Côt.
