Niepoort - Douro Redoma Branco Reserva 2023

"Discover all the complexity of Portugal in this cuvée featuring an exceptional selection of indigenous grape varieties from the Douro Valley!"
The nose is marked by aromas of lemon zest, dried mango, pineapple, and spices. The palate is full-bodied, with a ripe but balanced profile, yet with a spark of acidity that brings everything together. Very long, with a very elegant sense of density and texture. Layered, harmonious, and well-integrated in its style, this is one of the great white wines of the Douro. From the cooler right bank of the river, it is a blend of old vines of Rabigato, Codega de Larinho, Arinto, Viosinho, and other varieties, grown on micaschist soils at altitudes between 400 and 600 meters. Drink now or keep. (James Suckling 2024)

About wine:
The Redoma Reserva Branco 2023 reveals additional layers of complexity when tasted alongside the Redoma Branco from the same vintage. This wine is made from older vines, selected from vineyards in the Murça area, a sort of premier cru, if you will. It was fermented and aged in used, slightly younger barrels for nine months. It has an alcohol content of 12.5% and is spicy, floral, and herbaceous, with notes of green tea and pollen, a hint of smoke, and a balanced, streamlined palate with a subtle minerality, fine texture, and a dry, flavorful finish. 2025-2035
