"This sublime Port is 20 years old: it received an 18/20 from Jancis Robinson and was named a Favorite by our team!"

A warm, orange-brown hue. A lovely, spicy aroma of toasted orange. Smooth and rich with flavors of toasted apricot and orange, with a slight salinity on the finish. Excellent balance between complexity, generous fruit, and elegance. Opens with a wonderful spicy floral bouquet and a hint of vanilla. Delicious. » (Jancis Robinson 2015)

Wine rated (2021 guide) 91/100 (Excellent wine)

About the wine:

The Quinta da Gaivosa NV 20-Year-Old White Port is a blend of wines from very old vines. It was bottled in 2020 with a bar-top cork and 85 grams of residual sugar. Structured, with a rather dry finish and a lovely lingering aftertaste, this is a serious 20-year-old port that can sometimes come across as a bit austere. It isn’t rich, it lacks caramel notes, and it doesn’t resemble a Tawny (as some white ports can). It does, however, demonstrate balance and finesse. It is a white Port perfect for cheeses that aren’t too strong and for drinking with other foods, which should be its best use. Its complexity is modest, and it is far from fruity. It is, however, not so austere that it cannot be drunk on its own. But please, don’t mix it with tonic water. Save that for cheap Port wines. The best-by date is just a guideline—barring any cork taint, this wine should age well. The price refers to a 500-milliliter bottle. 2015–2035
