"The estate's enfant terrible"

“The indomitable 2020, produced by Guillaume Tari, bears the marks of its aging but has lost none of its freshness or its lush, vibrant character, underpinned by spicy tannins. Still young, it will age beautifully for 8 to 10 years.” (Le Guide RVF 2025) Made for aging, this rosé is out of fashion but certainly not out of place in its terroir. A pure reflection of this somewhat rugged yet utterly beautiful land, it is a complete, vibrant, and elegant rosé.

Rated estate (2022 guide): 4 stars (Producers of the very highest quality, the pride of French viticulture)

About the estate:

The terroir consists of marl and clay soils resting on a limestone base. Guillaume Tari and his wife manage this historic estate with passion and dedication. By preserving nature as much as possible, they produce wines that reflect their philosophy: “Quality is the sum of details, each of which demands precision.” Since the king of grape varieties, Mourvèdre, has the gift of expressing not only the character of its terroir but also that of its winemaker, the wines display a distinctly Bordeaux-style character—sophisticated and well-raised—without ever betraying this splendid and untamed terroir, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing wines of a high standard—you won’t be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)

About the wine:

The indomitable 2020, produced by Guillaume Tari, reflects the character of its evolution yet has lost none of its freshness and lush vitality, supported by spicy tannins. Still young, it will age beautifully over the next 8 to 10 years.

About the estate:

Guillaume and Soledad Tari, from Bordeaux, run this 500-hectare estate, at the heart of which lie 20 hectares of organically farmed vineyards. One of the estate’s key features is its high-altitude location. At 410 meters, La Bégude enjoys a climate very different from that near the coast. With significant temperature variations between day and night, and a windy environment, the Mourvèdre grapes ripen slowly but surely. And on this “stony” terroir, the Grenache takes on a character rarely found in Bandol. With powerful aromas of black fruit and black olives, the reds (50% of the volume) always offer a warm character, pushing the limits of ripeness! The rosé is always remarkable for its unique vinosity. The 2019 red is admirably concentrated with a refined fruit expression. Let’s hope the coming vintages follow this trend!

Rated estate (2021 guide) Recommended (Wine producer recommended by Wine Enthusiast)

About the wine:

This age-worthy rosé offers richness, depth, and ripe red fruit. With its texture, acidity, and concentration, this wine exhibits a hint of salinity along with flavors of wild herbs native to the region. It is ready to drink now but will be even better starting in 2022.

About the wine:

A beautiful coppery color. It has a rich, full-bodied character with lovely freshness and notes of exotic fruits and pomegranate; it pairs well with celery remoulade and zucchini and Parmesan gratin.
