Bettane & Desseauve
Rated estate (2022 guide) 4 stars (Producers of very high quality, the pride of French vineyards)
About the estate:
The terroir is composed of marl and clay soils on a limestone base. Guillaume Tari and his wife manage this historic site with heart and soul. Preserving nature as much as possible, they produce wines that live up to their philosophy, according to which "quality is the sum of details, each of which requires rigor." Since the king of grape varieties, Mourvèdre, has the gift of expressing not only the character of its terroir, but also that of its winemaker, the wines show a clearly Bordeaux-style, sophisticated and well-bred character, without betraying this splendid and wild terroir overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

Rated estate (2023 guide) 1*Star (Up-and-coming stars or quality winemakers producing good-quality wines; you won't be disappointed when tasting the wines from these estates)
About the estate:
Guillaume and Soledad Tari, from Bordeaux, run this 500-hectare estate, in the middle of which lie 20 hectares of organically grown vines. One of the main characteristics of this wine estate is its high altitude. At 410 meters above sea level, La Bégude enjoys a climate that is very different from that of the nearby coast. With significant temperature variations between day and night, and a windy environment, the Mourvèdre grapes ripen slowly but surely. And on this stony terroir, the Grenache takes on a dimension that is rarely found in Bandol. With powerful aromas of black fruits and black olives, the reds (50% of the volume) always offer a warm spirit, at the upper limit of maturity! The rosé is always remarkable for its unique vinosity. The 2019 red is admirably concentrated with a fine expressiveness of fruit. Let's hope that future vintages follow suit!
