“On the first sniff, it reveals character, delicacy, and, above all, a superbly long finish. A cuvée that combines power with finesse. The fruit is perfectly preserved. A magnificent selection of pure old Grenache vines (80 years old) grown on sandy soil.” (Le Guide des bonnes affaires du vin 2016 - Gerbelle & Maurange)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2016 guide): 2*Stars (A solid, recommendable wine, though slightly more consistent and uniform than the previous vintage)

About the estate:

Located in the vineyards near Orange, the 5 hectares of Châteauneuf-du-Pape include century-old vines, which explains the intensity of the 2012 vintage presented here. The Côtes-du-Rhône wines from the same estate are also remarkable, and the young winemaking couple now in charge is doing an exemplary job. Before this wine becomes too well-known, give it a chance to find a place in your cellar.

A disappointing wine: flat on the nose, with an alcohol-heavy palate and no finish. Completely uninteresting, far below the appellation's standards.

A disappointing wine—a bit flat and, above all, too alcoholic
