"A dazzling success for this Condrieu!"

“Blended from plots in three different localities, this cuvée was vinified and aged entirely in demi-muids. The result is a graceful pale gold color with silvery highlights and a distinguished, distinctive bouquet of apricot, blooming linden, and fresh butter. This wine is enriched with woody notes of praline on a full-bodied, velvety palate, never losing its freshness thanks to sustained acidity and subtle bitter notes that extend the finish. Why not try it with a sheep’s-milk cheese paired with fresh figs?” (Le Guide Hachette 2026)

Bettane & Desseauve

Rated estate (2026 guide): 3*Stars (High-quality production that serves as a benchmark in its sector)

About the estate:

This small estate produces only four wines—three from Côte Rôtie and one from Condrieu—from its 12 hectares of owned vineyards, 11 of which are in Côte Rôtie, spread across a large number of plots. Owned by the Guigal family since 2006, the estate is managed by an independent team. The wines tasted are consistently flawless, but they lack just a touch of magic to truly serve as great ambassadors for the Côte.

Wine noted (guide 2026) 1*Star (Very successful wine)

Rated estate (2026 guide) Award-winning wines (This producer’s wines regularly receive awards from the guide)

About the wine:

Blending grapes from three specific vineyard sites, this cuvée was vinified and aged entirely in demi-muids. Why not try it with a sheep’s-milk cheese paired with fresh figs?

About the estate:

By acquiring this estate in 2006—which was founded in 1961 and expanded and modernized in the 1990s—Marcel Guigal added a jewel to his already richly adorned crown: a 12-hectare vineyard planted primarily with “Serine,” an old variety of Syrah, which produces Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu.

Rated Estate (2026 Guide) Selected (Please note that this guide is a ranking, and as such, all the estates listed here—even those without a star—represent, in our view, the pinnacle of French winemaking.)

About the estate:

Acquired by the Guigal family in 2006, the Bonserine estate has retained complete autonomy. At the helm, Ludovic Richard can draw on a fine portfolio of vineyards in Côte-Rôtie and Condrieu. The entire vineyard is plowed, and the use of native yeasts is standard practice. The red wines are currently quite bold, but they will mellow with time.

Wine rated (2025 guide) 15/20

About the wine:

On the nose, there are creamy aromas of apricot and almond shell. Rich and ripe, with woody notes that dominate on the palate.

Wine rated (2026 guide) 93/100

About the wine:

With a slightly golden hue, the 2024 Condrieu Les 3 Lieux offers classic aromas of stone fruit, toasted apricot, mint, and honeyed flowers. It features a lovely texture, medium body, a fresh, precise, and nuanced palate, good depth on the mid-palate, and exceptional length. It should be enjoyed for 5 to 7 years. Best enjoyed between 2026 and 2033.
