(2018 Vintage Notes)
Viognier
delicate
sensual

Made from vineyards with bluish granite soil adjacent to Château Grillet, Jeanraude delights us with its delicate charm. Intense aromas of rose petal jam, white peach, and even raspberry perfume this voluptuous and powerful Viognier. The flavors of honey and mandarin are rich and full-bodied on the palate, and a refreshing liveliness beautifully awakens the mid-palate. This substantial wine is already delicious and will age well until 2030.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, though we are unable to offer a general assessment of the style of its entire range)

About the estate:

This small estate owns some lovely vineyards in Condrieu, some of which—such as Poncin—are very close to Château Grillet. We were more impressed by the red Saint-Josephs than by the Condrieus in 2017.
