Domaine François Merlin - Saint-Joseph 2020
The vines, located at the northernmost tip of the Saint-Joseph appellation, are planted with Syrah grapes on sandy soils at an altitude of 300 meters. This Saint-Joseph is a charming wine with an intense ruby color. The nose immediately reveals black cherry, raspberry, and violet, with a hint of spice on the finish. The palate is supple and rich, with pronounced fruitiness.

Rated estate (2020 guide) Selected (An estate or winery that impressed us with one or more of its wines, but where we are unable to give an overall opinion on the style of the entire range)
About the estate:
This small estate has some very attractive plots in Condrieu, including some, such as Poncin, that are very close to Château Grillet. We were more impressed by the red Saint-Joseph wines than by the Condrieu wines in 2017.
